Global Library and Open Repository Gateway

Curated gateway to Nigerian, African and world-standard university libraries, open repositories, OER platforms, theses portals, indexing services and subscribed databases. This demo now loads 500 gateway records, supported by global repository directories and institutional benchmarks, and should be governed as a librarian-managed catalogue with review date, owner, subject tags and link-health checks.

Design principle: colour-separated rows distinguish Nigeria, Africa, Global Open Access, Global Open Repository Directory, World Standard Benchmark and subscribed/licensed resources. UNILAG is included as one Nigerian reference, not the only benchmark.

World-Class Library Excellence Layer

Chief Librarian enhancement layer: the platform should not only catalogue resources; it should operate as FUOYE's full digital scholarship, preservation, research intelligence, open-learning and library-service command centre. All components remain CMS-managed, role-governed, auditable and configurable from the admin section.

Digital Scholarship and Research Intelligence Centre

The library should become a strategic partner to the Research Office, Senate, Deans and academic staff by improving publication visibility, metadata quality, researcher identity and evidence-based research planning.

Researcher Impact Dashboard

  • Publications by year, type, faculty, department and author.
  • Repository views, downloads, citation link-outs and open-access status.
  • Top downloaded research, new FUOYE research and departmental research trends.

Researcher Identity Hub

  • ORCID, Google Scholar, Scopus Author ID, Web of Science, ResearchGate and institutional profile links.
  • Metadata completeness scoring for abstract, keywords, DOI, citation and persistent URI.
  • ROR-ready institutional identity and affiliation consistency checks.

Research Data Repository

  • Dataset, code, field survey, geospatial, image, audio, video and supplementary material deposits.
  • Data management plan generator for grants and postgraduate work.

  • Flag records needing librarian correction before publication.
  • Generate faculty visibility league tables for management review.

Smart Discovery and AI-Governed Research Support

The next-generation OPAC should become a semantic discovery layer across Koha, repository, OER, subscribed databases, global repositories, theses, journals, subject guides and policy pages.

AI Research Assistant

Guided discovery for books, articles, theses, OER, databases and open repositories. Responses must come from approved library knowledge bases and be logged for governance.

Digital Preservation, Special Collections and FUOYE Heritage

A world-class library must preserve institutional knowledge for decades, not simply display documents online. FUOYE should combine preservation-grade storage with local cultural and institutional memory.

Digital Preservation Programme

  • Fixity checks, checksum validation, object storage replication and dark archive.
  • Preservation metadata, file-format registry, PDF/A guidance and migration planning.
  • Backup health dashboard, restoration-test evidence and quarterly disaster recovery drill records.

Heritage and Institutional Memory

  • Convocation lectures, inaugural lectures, speeches, official reports, newsletters and Senate-approved records.
  • Ekiti/Yoruba knowledge archive, oral history interviews, community documentation and local grey literature.
  • University photo, video, map, manuscript and media archive with rights metadata.

IIIF Digital Collections Viewer

  • High-resolution zoom, pan, compare and annotation for scanned rare books, maps, photographs and manuscripts.
  • IIIF manifest export for interoperability with global digital collection tools.
  • Accessible image descriptions and rights statements for each object.

Copyright, Embargo and Takedown Governance

  • Embargo date, access status, licence, copyright holder and takedown request register.
  • Metadata-only records where full-text deposit is not legally permitted.
  • Reviewer decision history and legal/compliance audit trail.

Publishing, Thesis Lifecycle and Learning Resource Innovation

FUOYE should connect the library directly to teaching, postgraduate research, open course materials, journal publishing and measurable digital literacy outcomes.
